About the project

No Vacancies is a comedy about the end of times seen from inside heavenly bureaucracy. It’s almost Christmas and Heaven — a public agency with a 1980s look — is about to run out of vacancies. To save the institution, the effeminate Archangel Gabriel accidentally recruits Lilian, an atheist coach devoted to the law of attraction and, alongside a playboy Jesus in an existential crisis, sets out to negotiate space with Limbo, Purgatory and Hell — until reaching the most improbable solution: instituting reincarnation as a new dogma.

Written by Biá Lopse, the project is an institutional satire of queer sensibility that laughs at sacred bureaucracy — not at faith — and bets on auteur comedy as a form of popular connection. It is in the screenplay-development stage, produced by Pupilo in Curitiba.
