Of the Skin’s Flesh
An experimental film with award-winning editing, based on the poem by Francisco Mallmann. Keythe Tavares and Rudolfo Auffinger place bodies under the gaze of the Christian cross that has surrounded our realities since colonial Brazil — and resignify it through the power of Brazilian queerness and LGBTQIA+ pop art.

About the project
Based on the poem O que faremos com ele, by Francisco Mallmann, Of the Skin’s Flesh narrates, in an almost liturgical way, the alternatives we would have when faced with the return of god. Keythe Tavares and Rudolfo Auffinger, who spent their childhoods in evangelical settings, place bodies under the gaze of a Christian cross that, since colonial Brazil, surrounds our realities. The work raises an altar to the moral, punitive and Christofascist gaze — and resignifies it through the power of Brazilian queerness and LGBTQIA+ pop art.
An experimental film with award-winning editing, it became a reference for cinema of invention in the south of the country.
