Pupilo Play undergoes restructuring and returns in the first half of 2027, alongside the 5th Chica Pelega Festival
Pupilo Play, Pupilo’s streaming platform dedicated to cinema in education, is temporarily offline. The service is undergoing a complete restructuring, and the new version is expected to be launched in the first half of 2027, alongside the 5th Chica Pelega Film Festival.
Launched to bring the film library to schools in an online and interactive way, Pupilo Play gathered productions catalogued by age group, school subject, education level and the Brazilian National Curriculum (BNCC), with extra content to work on in the classroom. The platform also hosted the online showcases of the Chica Pelega Film Festival, whose 4th edition, in March 2026, reached more than 150,000 views on Instagram and a record in-person audience in Videira.
The new version is being built within Pupilo’s own website. The film catalogue is being reviewed and re-catalogued by the pedagogical curatorship, with standardized film sheets, trailers and BNCC skills, and gains a teacher portal: free registration, a personal area with films recommended by school subject and education level, saved films and access to the complete BNCC mapping of each work. Cineclube Pupilo, with its calendar of in-person and online screenings, also becomes part of the same home.
The relaunch accompanies the 5th Chica Pelega Film Festival, dedicated to the caboclo and to rural territories, which will feature a 31-day online showcase on Pupilo Play with public voting for the Audience Award.
