The tenth-anniversary edition of the Children’s Film Circuit discussed themes such as the importance of plurality and the representation of Brazil’s different childhoods on screen.
The event was prepared and conceived knowing that the challenges are many in pandemic times and that everything is changing very fast! If you work in education and/or cinema, it is worth taking a look at the talks of the Children’s Film Circuit. The 2021 program was an invitation to reflect on decolonizing the gaze — a relevant social issue today.
Moreover, dialogue is always of great importance in the process of reflecting on, building and deconstructing ideas; the workshops also offer good tools for everyday school life; and the films help expand repertoire and support classroom activities.

About the Children’s Film Circuit
Created with the purpose of democratizing access to the films screened at the Florianópolis Children’s Film Festival, the Circuit has always also aimed to support education professionals through training and the strengthening of audiovisual as an educational resource. In 2020, with the pandemic, the event had its first virtual edition, with training sessions, debates and short film screenings. And in 2021 the Circuit once again had an online program.
The 2021 Children’s Film Circuit is sponsored, through the Federal Culture Incentive Law, by BAESA – Energética Barra Grande S/A, Celesc – Centrais Elétricas de Santa Catarina and Enercan – Campos Novos Energia S.A. It is carried out by the Special Secretariat of Culture – Ministry of Tourism, Federal Government. Coordination is by Lume Produções Culturais and general direction by Luiza da Luz Lins.
