Cinemateca Catarinense’s Audiovisual Qualification Program will offer free workshops in the western region

To complement the audiovisual sector education already offered by educational institutions, free of charge, and to enable experts in the field to share their knowledge while being paid for this work. This is the goal of the Qualifica SC Cine Program, an initiative of Cinemateca Catarinense that will energize the audiovisual sector in all regions of the state in the coming months.

Based on surveys being conducted with the population of Santa Catarina, the program is mapping who would like to take part as a student or teacher, and which subjects they would like to study. From this diagnosis, courses will be offered at different levels to the population, from beginner, requiring no prior knowledge to attend the classes, to advanced, with specialization courses for those already working in the field.

This is the largest professional audiovisual qualification program on record in Santa Catarina. The initiative foresees more than 20 remote and hybrid workshops (both in-person and remote) of 20 hours each, offering 499 free places for participants in all regions of the state. According to Marilha Naccari, president of Cinemateca Catarinense, Qualifica SC Cine represents a great achievement for audiovisual in the state. “We managed to make effective actions viable to fulfill the goals that have always guided the Cinemateca,” she notes.

The most diverse areas of the sector may be covered in the short courses, including: photography, editing, shooting and montage. “To offer the courses, we are inviting those interested  to tell us what they most want to learn, so that we have courses that are truly relevant to the professionalization of the sector,” explains Marilha.

The workshops will be streamed live with interaction between those teaching and those learning. Classes will not be recorded for later viewing, so it will be necessary to follow the schedule of meetings.

To take part, you need to register using the form on the website https://cinematecacatarinense.org.br/#inscricao. Those interested in teaching need to submit the syllabus of their 20-hour workshop and take part in the selection process to be one of those hired to teach the workshops in this or future editions of Qualifica SC Cine.
