Chica Pelega Film Festival
The leading film festival of inland Santa Catarina: it screens films, builds audiences and brings cinema to schools and communities across the Contestado region. Over five editions since 2021, it has shown more than 150 films to over 7,500 viewers, with debate, mediation and travelling cinema.
About the project
The Chica Pelega Film Festival was born in 2021 and has become one of the leading cinema platforms of inland Santa Catarina — screening films, building audiences and bringing the moving image to schools and communities, always with debate and mediation. Across five editions, it has already shown more than 150 films to over 7,500 viewers.
The editions:
- 1st Edition — 2021 · Contestado in Focus (Joaçaba): 7 films in 3 sessions, 73 viewers.
- 2nd Edition — 2022 · The Contestado in Focus: a circuit through 5 cities (Campos Novos, Curitibanos, Caçador, Timbó Grande and Fraiburgo), 6 films, 29 educational institutions and 1,709 viewers.
- 3rd Edition — 2023/2024 · Quilombola Edition: dedicated to the quilombola culture of the Contestado, 28 films in 15 cities and around 3,000 viewers.
- Videira Circuit — 2024: 24 films in 41 free sessions, with travelling cinema through neighbourhoods and 12 schools (1,073 viewers).
- 4th Edition — 2026: the largest yet — 101 films, 34 sessions and 1,730 viewers.
In 2027, the 5th Edition — “Caboclo and inland territories” arrives in Chapecó (SC), with a 31-day online showcase on Pupilo Play.
