Peripheral Window
A cinema-education project bringing workshops and an open-air screening to Vila Cachoeirinha, in Joaçaba (SC). Based on Priscila Pacheco's Curitiba methodology, it puts children aged 6 to 14 as authors of video-letters about their own territory — closing with the Chica Pelega Children's Festival.
About the project
Peripheral Window is a cinema-education and audiovisual-democratisation project that brings training workshops and an open-air screening to Vila Cachoeirinha, in Joaçaba (SC). Under the banner “Cinema in the Village invites Peripheral Window”, the initiative brings to Santa Catarina the Curitiba methodology created by art-educator Priscila Pacheco in 2013 — over a decade of nationally and internationally recognised experience.
On 10 and 11 October 2026, up to 15 children take part in hands-on workshops (8h) based on Affective Cartography and the making of Video-Letters, working through every stage — screenplay, camera, sound and directing — coordinated by Priscila Pacheco and Francisco Silveira. On 12 October, Children’s Day, the community field hosts an open-air screening with professional structure (a 5×4 m inflatable screen), the Chica Pelega Children’s Festival, in partnership with Pupilo, and the premiere of the video-letter made by the children themselves.
Carried out in partnership with the Irmã Sheila daycare, the project positions children as producers of knowledge and memory of their own territory, uniting cinema, education and community leadership.
