Pupilo TV selected to take part in international event in Buenos Aires
Joaçaba project will take part in the Argentine Market of Cultural Industries; MICA takes place from June 1 to 4, 2023
The startup Pupilo TV, a member of Incubadora Joaçaba and Polo Inovale, led by entrepreneur Rudolfo Auffinger, received a grant from the Ministry of Culture to take part in the Argentine Market of Cultural Industries, MICA, a central event in that country’s public policy system, created exclusively for the commercialization of products and services and the strengthening of the Argentine and international cultural industry sectors.
Since 2011, the event has boosted production, given visibility to cultural industries, generated quality jobs and promoted marketing. Over these years, MICA has established itself as a model public platform and has been replicated in other countries. It is currently the most important cultural market in the region, with constant activity through the platform http://www.mica.gob.ar, developing a wide diversity of activities, articulating the economic face of culture with aesthetic enjoyment.
Public creative markets such as MICA and the Brazilian Creative Industries Market (MICBR) are public policies developed by the national states of South America, with a view to giving the region’s creative entrepreneurs and professionals the opportunity to expand their network of contacts and business, as well as to internationalize their creative goods and services.
The Brazilian government’s Secretariat of Creative Economy and Cultural Promotion considers that the selection of Brazilian creative economy entrepreneurs for MICA 2023 was carried out so as to consolidate a notable and consistent presence of the country abroad and in South America in particular, showing Brazil as a source of creativity, diversity, quality and innovation.
The Brazilian delegation arrives at MICA 2023 with 90 participants and, among the 15 content buyers, Pupilo TV is the only one from Santa Catarina and the only one not based in a state capital. On the program, the group will have a reception event at the Brazilian embassy in Buenos Aires and then proceed to 3 days of business rounds with Argentine film production companies.
“For Pupilo TV, being part of MICA less than 10 months after launching the film streaming platform for schools is an important step for a startup founded less than 2 years ago. We are going to MICA with the goal of discovering and licensing Argentine titles for the catalogue – the dream of thinking about the internationalization of the project even before it goes public makes us believe in the project even more and expands our network of opportunities,” celebrates Gabi Bresola, Pupilo’s programming coordinator.

Founded 2 years ago, Pupilo TV is a company that unites technology, education and entertainment with the purpose of using films in the learning process of children, young people and adults. It carries out cultural and technological projects, promoting events, workshops and film screenings with the school community, both in person, at schools, and in movie theaters or even on digital channels. Based at Polo Inovale Joaçaba, Pupilo has the support of the City of Joaçaba’s Incentivized Taxpayer program, the Centelha Program promoted by Finep in partnership with FAPESC, and also received the 2022 Elisabete Anderle Award.
