Pupilo TV – Teaching is a cinema thing project approved in the Incentivized Taxpayer program

This Monday (27), another contract of the Incentivized Taxpayer Program was signed, a program created in 2020 by the Municipal Administration of Joaçaba with the support of the Municipal Innovation Council. This innovative project establishes tax incentives through funds allocated by incentivizing taxpayers; that is, the contribution to the project comes from the Urban Property Tax (IPTU), and taxpayers interested in supporting one of these innovative projects can authorize the city to allocate up to 20% of the amount paid to carry them out.

The selected project was “Pupilo TV – Ensinar é coisa de cinema” (Teaching is a cinema thing) by entrepreneur Rudolfo Auffinger, which will receive financial support of up to R$ 40,000 through economic subsidy, that is, by attracting taxpayers who wish to support this project by allocating 20% of the value of their IPTU.

To take part in the program, entrepreneurs were selected through a process that selects and approves projects. Individual microentrepreneurs, microenterprises or small businesses based in Joaçaba that aim to develop or improve an innovative service, product or process may apply, as well as citizens who wish to establish an innovative venture of public interest in the Municipality. The next call for applications will open in 2022 and will be publicized to the whole population.

Pupilo is a VOD platform of Brazilian short films exclusively for schools and teachers to use in classrooms. The films come with planned activities linked to the BNCC – Brazilian National Curriculum – and fit within the length of a teacher’s class. Pupilo TV’s purpose is to connect teachers and Brazilian short films to transform the classroom experience.

About the Incentivized Taxpayer program

The Municipal Program for Incentive to Science, Technology and Innovation establishes tax incentives through funds from incentivizing taxpayers via this Program, to be granted to individuals or legal entities established in the Municipality of Joaçaba who are strictly up to date with their municipal, state and federal obligations, with the primary objective of promoting science, technology and innovative entrepreneurship of interest to the municipality.

Funds in the economic subsidy category with a maximum value of R$ 40,000 per project.
