2 films dedicated to water are part of Cineclube Pupilo’s environment special
Water, a natural resource and source of life that seems inexhaustible on Planet Water. To reflect on this asset, in June 2021 Cineclube Pupilo presented two fiction short films around this theme: “A Menina do Mar” and “O Velho, o Mar e o Lago”. The post-screening debate was moderated by Victoria Hugo Von Holleben, with the participation of Rudolfo Auffinger and Clara, from UFPR.
The first short, the 14-minute documentary A Menina do Mar (2010), directed by Mauro D’addio and rated 10, tells the story of a small fishing community where everyone is caught by surprise when they hook a strange girl from the sea.
The second production, O Velho, o Mar e o Lago (2010, 21 minutes), is director Camilo Cavalcanti’s tribute to actor Mário Lago. Shot in black and white, it is a poetic, reflective film about loneliness and aging. And, of course, about the sea.
