Pato Branco gets Cineclube Pupilo, a film club for the whole family

The city of Pato Branco is about to gain a cultural activity that promises to bring together families, friends and film enthusiasts: Cineclube Pupilo.

An initiative of cultural producers Tamara Alff and Rudolfo Auffinger, curated by Gabi Bresola and in partnership with Pupilo TV, the film club premieres on June 3 and will hold screenings of Brazilian films on the first Monday of every month, from June to December. Screenings will take place at the Complexo Cultural, at 9 am and 2 pm, and at CEU das Artes, at 7 pm, free and open to the public.

Children and teenagers from Remanso da Pedreira, Projeto Jojoca, the School of Arts and the CEU projects already have their attendance guaranteed, but everyone can take part in the screenings. To do so, just show up at the venue at the scheduled times.

“The interesting thing is for participants to see themselves as members of a club and attend every screening, following the group’s cultural development. Our intention is for children to have access to works that shaped the history of Brazilian cinema and for adults and seniors to relive memories and share their personal experiences,” says Tamara. She stresses that Cineclube Pupilo is not just a place of entertainment, but a space for identity building, cultural preservation and intergenerational dialogue.

What are film clubs?

Film clubs (cineclubes) are spaces dedicated to screening and discussing films, playing a fundamental role in preserving and promoting film culture. In this context, the screening of Brazilian films gains even more relevance. “These spaces celebrate the richness and diversity of Brazilian cinema, contributing to the construction of a cultural identity and valuing local film production,” Tamara points out.

Audiovisual education

Cineclube Pupilo aims, beyond entertaining, to promote a space for education through the films screened. “After the screenings, we will provide a pedagogical plan to help educators interested in working on the subject addressed in the film’s theme with the children, creating a channel for exchanging experiences, perspectives and stories,” explains Tamara Alff.

In addition, at the CEU das Artes screenings, aimed at an older audience, there will be a debate about the film after the screening.

Cineclube Pupilo is a project approved by the State Department of Culture of the Government of Paraná, carried out with funds from the Paulo Gustavo Law through the Ministry of Culture of the Federal Government, with support from the Culture Department of the City of Pato Branco.
