The Minute That Was
A film workshop that results in collective documentaries, giving voice to those who rarely appear on screen. Led by filmmaker Yasser S. González, it had editions in the quilombola communities of the Contestado, with Haitian and Venezuelan immigrants in Joaçaba, and at the Videira festival.

About the project
The Minute That Was is a film workshop that results in collective documentaries, giving voice to those who rarely appear on screen. Led by filmmaker Yasser S. González, it had several editions: it was born at the 3rd Chica Pelega Film Festival — Quilombola Edition, with workshops in the Invernada dos Negros and Campo dos Polinário communities (which resulted in three shorts), and gained an edition dedicated to Haitian and Venezuelan immigrants in Joaçaba, addressing racism, longing and integration. A new edition was part of the Videira festival.
More than recording stories, each edition strengthens the participants’ leading role — turning the workshop into a space for listening, expression and belonging.
